Meet Dr. Kanter
 | Dr. Kanter is in solo-practice. He began practicing plastic surgery on the Peninsula in January 1993. He grew up in Norfolk, VA and attended Virginia Military Institute graduating with distinction as a double major in Biology and Chemistry in 1981. He completed medical school and general surgery training at Eastern Virginia Medical School in 1990. | Dr. Kanter traveled to Lexington, Kentucky to complete a plastic and reconstructive surgery residency training at the University of Kentucky in 1992. He had the good fortune to train with Dr. Edward A. Luce the 2001-2002 president of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (ASPRS). Additional education for cosmetic surgery included time spent with Dr. Norman Cole (also a past president of ASPRS 1991-1992). A post graduate fellowship in cosmetic surgery in the greater Boston, MA area with Dr. Eugene Courtiss, a founding member and past president of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, completed Dr. Kanter's formal plastic surgery training in December 1992. Dr. Kanter is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Kanter is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the Southern Medical Society and the Medical Society of Virginia. He is a member of the Hampton Medical Society. Dr. Kanter is married and has five children.They are very active in their church and enjoy both creating and collecting art, participating in musical instrument studies, sports, and outdoor activities.
